The Role:
We are looking for a Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist Anaesthetist to join an accredited training department to reflect the growing demand for health care in the region. The Hospital has been redeveloped, at a cost of $408 million, increasing the bed capacity to over 300.

Working closely with the Director you will be responsible for providing a high quality of clinical services to patients within the department. This includes providing anaesthesia across orthopaedic, trauma, general, gynaecological, obstetric, paediatric, ENT, dental, ECT and endoscopic procedures. The role also encompasses standard duties such as pre-operative assessment and early post-operative care of patients and management of anaesthesia during procedure. In addition to this, you will also support the trauma and cardiac arrest team, and provide pre-assessment clinic, an acute pain service and obstetric epidural service. The role does also include after hours and weekend clinical duties as rostered.

The hospital provides specialist services in obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, orthopaedics, psychiatry, urology and oncology and many other specialty areas.
The health services comprises of eight hospitals, two Multi-Purpose Health Services and two additional community health services.

Mandatory possession of a medicine degree from a registered tertiary institution, Fellowship or eligibility for Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) and specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia in Anaesthetics or appropriate registration with the Medical Board of Australia to practice in the specialist position.

1. Demonstrated recent ability to provide anaesthesia for a broad range of surgical specialities
including emergency and paediatric cases.
2. Demonstrated ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary team.
3. Proven ability in Anaesthetics and patient care as deemed by the College.
4. Extensive experience and ability to deliver high quality patient care services.
5. Understanding of and high level ability to apply contemporary leadership principles to develop and maintain and effective and motivated team.
6. High level ability to identify and resolve issues using an innovative approach where appropriate.
7. Well-developed ability to build and maintain appropriate relationships with team members, clients and stakeholders.
8. Well-developed knowledge of the principles of effective team functioning
