This role is based at a major referral hospital in Far North Queensland. The health service delivers evidence-based, contemporary public health and clinical interventions with a focus on excellence in care, technology, teaching, research, and empowerment of people with mental illness.
You will work collaboratively with clinicians and service providers to deliver high-quality mental health care across Cairns and the surrounding hinterland. Key responsibilities include providing clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team, overseeing inpatient and community mental health and ATOD programs, ensuring clinical governance, contributing to strategic and operational planning, and delivering education to junior staff and students. Ongoing professional development and participation in continuing education are also expected.
Mental health services are delivered across diverse settings, including a 38-bed Acute Adult Mental Health Unit, a 10-bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit, a 12-bed Sub-Acute Unit, and a 20-bed Community Care Unit, with multidisciplinary teams supporting more than 30 facilities across 142,900 square kilometres.
