Queensland Health is investing $51.5 million over four years to expand specialist mental health services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The program includes a statewide Centre of Excellence and 12 new multidisciplinary consultation-liaison teams, which will provide specialist assessment, treatment advice and support to improve mental health outcomes for people with intellectual disability. This statewide expansion is increasing demand for Australian and international psychiatrists whose principal area of expertise is intellectual and developmental disability psychiatry.
About the roles
These specialist roles involve the assessment and management of mental illness in people with intellectual and/or neurodevelopmental disabilities, including those with complex needs and challenging behaviours. Working within experienced multidisciplinary teams, you will provide expert psychiatric care, support individuals, families and carers, and contribute to clinical leadership and service development.
