The Role
Step into a senior role where your expertise will directly shape the development and future direction of anaesthetic services across the region.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing comprehensive anaesthetic services across surgery, obstetrics, trauma, ICU and perioperative medicine
  • Participation in the on-call roster within approved scope of practice
  • Providing oversight and ICU management in collaboration with remote supervising intensivists
  • Teaching and supervising registrars, PHOs, RMOs and multidisciplinary staff
  • Supporting evidence-based practice, quality improvement and service expansion
  • Opportunity to develop specialist interests (regional anaesthesia, obstetrics, ICU, pain medicine, perioperative medicine, wellbeing, education)
The Department
  • 3 Operating Theatres
  • 5-bed ICU/HDU
  • Multidisciplinary service covering adults and children
  • Case mix includes: general surgery, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, gastroenterology, trauma, obstetrics & gynaecology, dental
Team Structure:
  • 1.0 FTE Director of Anaesthetics
  • 2.0 FTE Staff Specialists (Anaesthetics)
  • 1.0 FTE SMO Anaesthetics (FACRRM/JCCA/RGA)
  • 1.0 FTE Registrar/PHO (RGA Pathway)
  • 3.0 FTE PHO/RMO – ICU
  • 0.5 FTE Provisional SMO – Anaesthetics
  • 1.0 FTE ICU Rotational RMO

About You
We are seeking a Consultant Anaesthetist who brings enthusiasm, leadership, and the ability to work in a dynamic rural setting.

Essential:
  • FANZCA or equivalent eligible for specialist registration with AHPRA
  • Strong skills in obstetric anaesthesia including epidurals
  • Scope/experience in paediatric anaesthesia (5 years and under) desirable
  • Interest or experience in ICU patient management
  • Interest in regional anaesthesia and acute/chronic pain desirable
  • Commitment to teaching, service development and rural healthcare delivery
