This coastal Victorian service provides an integrated health service for the community. The hospital was established over 150 years ago on the current site and now provides a comprehensive range of services that include:
  • Hospital based Medical and Surgical services, Medical Imaging (Radiology), Pharmacy and Pathology
  • A 24/7 Urgent Care Centre for emergency treatment
  • Residential aged care for 30 residents
  • An extensive range of primary and community services for the local community
  • The service employs around 470 staff with an FTE of approximately 290 and has an active volunteer workforce.
 
 
The position is a sole practitioner, rural generalist role with a mostly pre-school community outpatient clinic. 
 
The Speech Pathologist is responsible for clinic triage, prioritisation, and diary management with the support of an Allied Health Assistant to help deliver therapy plans and complete administration tasks.

The job includes four areas:
  • Paediatric outpatients (approximately 80% of the caseload)
  • Adult outpatients
  • Ward-based (covering acute and subacute wards)
  • Aged-care facility
Some paediatric clients will be short-term and require onward referrals to the NDIS. Home visits may be required for some patients. 
 
The role covers a wide range of clinical areas including phonological delays, language delay, dysphagia assessment & management, voice disorder and acquired communication impairments.
 
The speech pathologist is supported by an Allied Health Assistant (Grade 3) who provides paediatric therapy under the delegation of the Speech Pathologist.
 
About you:
  • Possession of a tertiary qualification and accreditation as a Speech Pathologist with membership or eligibility for membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Post Graduate clinical qualification(s) in speciality area of practice
  • Extensive clinical knowledge, skills and leadership experience in speech pathology.
  • Demonstrated sound advanced clinical assessment and analysis skills and knowledge, and ability to implement indicated treatments for individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Understanding of relevant accreditation and funding systems, and demonstrated ability to manage continuous improvement portfolio
  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs, issues and sensitivities of people from diverse backgrounds.

  • 28th July – 21st December
  • Contract Hours: 64-72 hours per fortnight
  • Roster: Monday to Friday 0830-1700
  • Grade 2 level role
  • Locum rates
  • FREE accommodation
  • $200 reimbursed towards travel
