Senior High Risk Foot Podiatrist required for regional NSW Health service. Join a large allied health team, great feedback from other locums! The roles are full time, Monday – Friday, 08:30 to 16:30.
The core business of High Risk Foot Service is to provide treatment for people with potentially limb threatening diabetes-related foot complications - primarily foot infections, foot ulceration and Charcot’s neuro-arthropathy. The aim of the service is to prevent minor or major limb amputations, premature death and ensure timely admission to prevent more serious disease or improve the pathway deal with acute disease better. This level of care extends beyond that which can be readily provided in a podiatry only outpatient clinic as it involves a coordinated multidisciplinary team approach.
The team may consist of Podiatrist, Dietitian, Wound Care Nurse, Diabetes Educator and Medical Officer i.e. Specialist, Physician, Vascular or Orthopaedic Surgeon. The medical coverage will differ at each site due to varied medical staffing across the LHD. General Practice will be involved and included in care through regular clinical handover by multidisciplinary team. Referral pathways will exist to other services to ensure that clients have access to appropriate care e.g. Social Work. A direct admission pathway into the tertiary hospitals will need to be established to ensure a patient focussed approach.
The service aim is to provide a specialist care service to high-risk clients with an acute condition such as severe ulcer infection, foot ulcer extending to deeper structures, ischemia with ulceration, ascending cellulitis etc.
You must be an experienced Podiatrist, with considerable experience with high risk feet.
