Senior Hand Therapist – Grade 3
Fixed Term Full Time until December 2026
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and team centred Senior Grade 3 Hand Therapist. This role is open to suitably qualified Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists and is responsible for the ongoing development and provision of hand therapy services, and providing patient centred care in the area of hand therapy. You will be part of the wider Allied Health team and largely work in our outpatient clinics, but may be required to service the inpatient wards including ED if your expertise is required. Our service accepts referrals from all inpatient and outpatient clinics and also accepts referrals from metropolitan hospitals for the management of post-operative patients.
The Senior Hand Therapist will facilitate the triage, assessment and treatment of patients referred to the Hand Therapy Clinic, and will perform a leadership role in the provision, development and evaluation of evidence-based hand therapy services. They will work to achieve maximal operational effectiveness, to develop organisational competencies and guidelines, and supervise appropriate junior occupational therapy and physiotherapy staff undertaking hand therapy interventions, to ensure organisational service needs are met in a timely manner by appropriately skilled staff.

In this role you will be responsible for providing Occupational Therapy services to in-patients, across the acute or sub-acute wards. Seeking a passionate and dedicated Grade 3 Occupational Therapist to join our Rural Allied Health Team (RAHT) in a senior position. This new role has been developed in response to the further expansion of the RAHT service.
The RAHT assists older people, people with a disability and people with chronic health conditions to remain living at home. Our aim is to help promote patient quality of life, independence and participation in activities. The team also supports carers.
In this role you will provide clinical expertise to complex cases, support staff supervision and be responsible for the planning, review and implementation of quality initiatives to enhance the delivery of high-quality Occupational Therapy services within the RAHT service model. The role is a chance to grow your clinical leadership skills and gain exposure in management for career advancement opportunities.
